'How have you been sleeping?' Haven't, never, can't.
FRIDAY 20TH JULY: Part of Performance Night from 7.30pm
West Midlands Creation Centre
£25 Full Evening Ticket (£20 with class pass)
Sleepless is a solo aerial theatre piece of contemporary circus exploring sleep deprivation. Set alongside an eclectic soundscape of performance poetry and baby noise, it is a celebration of motherhood that tackles the very real issue of sleep deprivation through experiences such as breastfeeding, teething and returning to work.
‘It’s ok, you’ll feel better once you’ve got some….DON’T DROP THE BABY...sleep.’
Sleepless is a stream of consciousness navigation through emotional trauma that pushes mental faculties to dangerous extremes. How can we make sense of our mind once it's blown up and once the chaos has settled? Using the writings taken from diaries and scribblings of both new mother, Kim Charnock and Co-Director Lorna Meehan, who struggled with sleep deprivation during a time of grief. Inspired by personal experiences of new motherhood, grief, anxiety, depression and adjusting to the exerting intracies of new parenting, this disjointed emotionally charged narrative reminds us how fragile we are and how strong we can be regardless.
